Dental Cone Beam CT- otherwise known as a CT scanner.
Many of you who have had dental implants done by Dr Balogh may be well acquainted with our newest
member and we are very excited about adding it to our ever increasing diagnostic aids to give our
patients the best in dental treatment and diagnosis.
Some of you may wonder; what is a CT scanner? Well it is a special type of X-ray machine used in
situations where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. This type of CT scanner uses a special
type of technology to generate three dimensional (3D) images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve
paths and bone structure. By using a CT scanner we can now obtain images that allow for more precise
No special preparation is needed by the patient and the procedure only takes minutes. The risks to
patients are minor and all precautions are taken, by our knowledgeable staff, to insure that any risk to
the patient is minimal.
