Over the years we have made tremendous strides in patient education with regard to oral hygiene.
Patients are coming in for their regular scheduled visits and as a result we are finding that people have
an amazing advantage now as opposed to even 10 years ago, when people were losing their teeth due
to bone lose, decay and gum disease.
It is so important to have regular trips to the dental office for many reasons but here are just a few:
-With increased tartar and plaque build-up people run the risk of periodontal (gum) disease which can
lead to tooth lose, heart disease and in some cases diabetes. Continuing research shows that women
with chronic gum disease have an increased risk of 70% in developing endometriosis. With the newest
use of local antimicrobial agents our hygienists can now decrease pocket formation and in most cases
help our patients avoid surgery for gum disease.
- By coming in for regular visits our fully trained hygienists and staff can assist in screening patients for
Oral cancer and if found, can be treated in the early stages. An interesting fact is that men are twice as
likely to get oral cancer, yet they visit the dentist less often than women.
-for some we did not have the luxury of orthodontics when we were young , so many of us may have
crooked, gapped and crowded teeth which can be very hard to keep clean. In this instance we can offer
assistance in coming up with solutions to make tooth cleaning easier.
- We can ensure that tooth decay is kept to a minimum which in turn will save both time and money.
So now you can see that by simply keeping your regular hygiene appointments, you can continue to
enjoy a lifetime of healthy beautiful teeth and that is something to smile about!!
